Ernie Magwood Memorial 10 Time Trial

Our annual Ernie Magwood memorial 10 mile TT had record breaking success today.

Held on the A29 Cookstown Road course, we had 17 testers taking part including Declan Slevin, a member of the Irish National paracycling team. Declan is due to compete in the Paracycling World Championships which are taking place in Maniago, Italy on 2nd – 5th August. As a lead into the championships, Declan sought to set a new National record and indeed, took an amazing 43 seconds off the previous record to set a new time of 26.07.56 for a hand cyclist. First place overall was taken by the talented Nathan Weir, winning by 34 seconds over Gary Jeffers and Robert Stewart, taking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Mel steele was first road bike with Ann McFarland taking the first female. Lee Sommerville was fastest unplaced East Tyrone rider. First under 16 was Ciaran Dixon and Declan Slevin was first hand cyclist. East Tyrone cc would like to thank all the testers for taking part in this event in Ernie's memory and also extends thanks to our visiting time keeper and comms to verify the Record attempt. Thanks as always to the sign on crew and marshals for their help and a big thanks to the Magwood family for providing the lovely refreshments before and after the event.
